Q: Will it still work if i convert the c port to a usb port to hook up to my laptop. my c port is for data transfers only and not monitors.

A: Sorry to say this USB-C dock drives monitor via USB-C alt-mode DisplayPort, so a USB to USB-C adapter is unsupported.
